Thank you, Master Joe and Sensei McClain. I definitely have to find somebody to work with.

The everlasting mystery (to me) of thrust versus penetration. I’m still trying to figure this one out…

I’m wondering whether thrust versus snap has anything to do with speed. My hachis are usually rather slow and thus feel more like thrusts, whereas I can throw shichis quicker which makes them feel more like snap strikes when I go through my basics.

Great to hear from you Birgit! I wonder the same for knee strikes. Remember that being a snapping or thrusting technique has to do with the time on target, not how quickly it travels to the target. This should give you some insight for your question. Keep up the great work.

    Thank you, Sensei McClain.

What I meant was that since my hachis are slower than my shichis, my hachis “naturally” spend more time on target and thus seem to be thrusts more than strikes. It’s more a lack of body control, I guess. I have to play with hachis to make them feel and work more like snapping strikes.
