When you loose sight of your goal or become confused in your initial direction, the simplest things can distract you. The only way to be aware of your surroundings, yet stay focused on your goal is to ready yourself with a practiced response. That’s why we have forms. To give us a vehicle of personal discovery.

I think I’ll be visiting the GCI dojo in Feb.
Master Thompson,
I’m a little confused between your comment about using high star steps to change angles versus simply moving laterally and what I see on the video. Can you explain further? Thanks, and enjoy the Grand Cayman Islands!
I had to watch this one a few times, I kept getting distracted listening the ocean. All my focus goes out the window if I hear waves and seagulls!
I do have a question though. What is the reason for landing on the ball of your foot? Is it easier for the lateral starsteps?
Hi MaryLou, My focus in this work out was my obi knot. When I wanted to point it in a different direction I’d use a high star step. If I wanted to keep it pointed in the same direction but move laterally I’d use hidden foot. By focusing on my obi knot, I was really working on squaring up my hips on my attacker. Hope this helps.
Hi Amy Lynn, I think I landed on my ball of foot just before I kicked Kristi with a basic ni. That was a little,no, a lot of muscle memory left over from something I was working on the week before. You might have recognized it if I would of used it from a different angle. See you soon.
Thanks Master Thompson. Since you don’t mention what, I’ll assume it’s a ninja secret
