But, someday in the future you will slip, loose your balance or trip and your body will hit the ground. What will you do to prevent this? Well, maybe the question you should ask yourself is; “What can I do to perfect this?”! Featuring Ben Wolbert, District Master.

Hi Master Joe & Master Wolbert,
In the beginning when (I think it was Master Joe?) was falling forwards, you put your hands down before rolling, at least, it looks like it (picture is a little unclear so feel free to correct me!). So, my question is, how do you put you hands down like that before doing the roll w/o breaking your wrists? Second question: how should I fall to the side? So rolling forward or falling backwards on a cheek are not options - only lateral.
Thanks!

SAM- Would these kinds of falls be used in a confrontation?
Great timing, Masters! Just last week I mentioned to my senseis that trying not to “catch” myself with my hand when I fall is a lesson I haven’t learned yet. I’ll do some “extreme” practice this weekend in our nice, soft, snow (and padded snowsuit, lol.)
Hi Master Joe and Master Ben,
If I may please offer one bit of advice / warning to any Sanchinkas planning on practicing this at home, (from personal experience from years ago) be especially careful when falling not to let your elbow bone come between your ribs and the ground, your ribs will most definitely loose (broke two), if you watch the Masters closely you’ll notice it’s not tucked in, really have to watch out on a fall where you land more on one side.
I apologize if I’m speaking out of turn Masters but I figure an ounce of prevention….
Talk to everyone soon,
Bob and Kirry
