Hammer-Fist is a technique widely used in practice, yet rarely used in improvisational scenarios such as kumite. In part two of two, District Master Duane King and Disciple Master Bill Weber shed some light on utilization of this highly effective technique.

Welcome Master Weber! It is an honor to have you as a master of the Sanchin-Ryu Dojo!
Hello Master Weber,
Can I use a hammer or Chuto on the outside of the upper arm on a punch or upper strike or should I hit past the elbow so that my opponent cannot counter into me with an elbow?
Thank you for your input,
Scott Jansen
Woah, apparently I’ve been gone for a few days too long…this thumbs up thumbs down…we can vote on something?? I assume this is the +1 +2 thingie?? *runs to look through topics and vote, particularly on questions not yet answered*
That’s right, we’re adding a few new features, this one is the first. Basically, thumbs up mean you agree, thumbs down means you disagree. I’m looking forward to using it!
Okay doky! Thanks for explaining!
Thank you Master Weber and Master King for such insight to a versatile tool that is used so often. We at times glaze over simplicities of base motion to get to the wide range of the concept. Thank you for the lesson to pick function and commitment. ^:)^
I really liked the video Master Weber and Master King. It was inspiring to hear the head and brain area refered to as focus points. This helped me to cristalize on my empathy aspect of my kumata study, Thank You and hope to see you soon.
