Look at your forms on many levels: Personal balance, opponent arrangement, possible attacking scenarios and above all these, find a higher level of faith in your movement.
Chief Grand Master Dearman -exerpt from Tiger's Eye, Issue 31
Lol. My sincerest sympathies to Master Wolbert.
Chief Instructor Master Dearman, on the second version, where you have locked your opponents ankle, how do you keep him from hooking your legs or ankles and taking you with him if he goes down?
Wow that looked a lot like Sensei Lisa’s class - well the room anyway. Oh, and I need a buddy…it would be cool if we could figure out who lives close to who and make a buddy system so we can get together and try some of these with a live person and not air ninjas.
RE: Marge,
The key to not having this back-fire on you has to do with how you use your body weight with hidden-foot stance. Try “seating” your back knee into the back of the front knee. This will allow you put equal pressure on both feet, while allowing you to bend deeper into the hidden foot. I will ear-mark this for DojoChat on Sunday!
RE: Amy,
Believe me, I know! My suggestion would be to tell a friend at school what it is that you do and that you are looking for a partner to share with once a week. This has worked for many people in the past and is a great activity to do with a friend. It goes without saying that they can learn some tips on a crucial skill along the way!
Thanks for the suggestion Master Joe. The best thing would be if my brother would work out with me again but shortly after he quit he didn’t want to anymore.
Actually come to think of it a coworker is interested in Sanchin-Ryu….hmmm.
Master Dearman,
I really like this application!
I notice in the video, you step Left-over-Right (LoR) with the right hand shuto, which sets up the trip. With transitions into hidden-foot, is the choice of LoR vs RoL more a matter of the situation.. and what you are trying to set up? (hope that makes sense)
