Any ideas on how to work on this w/o a partner? I haven’t been able to come up with any creative ideas yet :(

Hi Amy, Master Biernacki has shared some very creative ways to incorporate this exercise into without a partner. He covered a few of them on DojoChat. I will request that he share a thought or to for us here!

    Hi Amy,
One way to work this exercise by yourself is to look at the movements of some of our basics; specifically Basic Ju.
To begin, draw your hand towards your hip as you would to begin your shuto.
Go ahead and make a Sanchin fist (thumb side up). Keep both the elbow and shuto of that arm close to your body.
If your wrist is straight, you’ll set up the proper alignment for your Ichi to strike towards the middle of your body.
Go ahead and deliver your Ichi with your other hand keeping it in contact with the initial fist that came across your body.
From the heel of your hand to the elbow contact should remain. This will enable you to keep your elbow close to your body and your punch in line.
Try that out and let us know how well it works for you!
