Hi Master Biernacki, you did a very good job on this spring workshop video. Since I was unable to attend (first time in several years)it made me feel like I actually had the chance to attend, (do we really talk that much????) (really loud workshop). Full body weight on the finger tips is a little much. I like Masters Thompsons exercise on the video, Master Joe touched a little with using the wall to build strength for our fingers.
Master Thompson showing us how to set the hips in the Form of Nihachi after lateral movement is a good point. I remember Master Susan Backofen sharing with me to use the star step to stop lateral movement. My thought is if we are not setting the hips are we really in stance? During any movement it is really easy to come out of stance, part of my growing in sanchin ryu is checking this. My most notable is when I get the real person across from me. I go into auto pilot and stand up straight.
(Do I need to think groin-groin-groin and more groin with my punches????) At the beginning of the Form Seiu San the Frontal Cat movement are we drawing the whole body down or just setting the hips as in the Form of Nihachi?
Need to go thanks for your time.

Great observations! I believe you answered your own question in
Seiu San. Just turn your question around; when I set my hips (center), my whole body draws down. Thanks for your input and questions

This was neat - thanks for doing it! Will there be one added for the first spring workship? I really like the idea for the variation of the fingertip pushups too - thanks for sharing! :)

Hi Amy, we didn’t have a chance to do anything special for the last workshop. However, we have some neat things planned for our Youth Leadership SuperCamp!

Master Joe, even though there isn’t one for the first workshop I hope you can keep doing them! Even when just watching this video I remembered something I had forgotton already so I ran to write it down :) (writing things down always helps me remember things). And ditto what John said :) I can’t wait for Chief Grand Master’s Dojo this summer!

    Hey Chief Instructor Dearman,

What a great time. I showed my first hour class the video and they saw me in the background of the recap. They all wanted to know where they could do Sanchin-Ryu.

I don’t know if you have any idea, but what was the purpose of the 30 minute kumite that the black belts had. I’m not sure I was focusing on the right things. I focused on connecting the basics to kumite as CGM instructed, but the masters were telling me to use forms. I know they are just combined basics, but I did not think that the forms were supposed to be the focus. Working for that long sure puts you technique to the test. I kept getting sloppy when I was fatigued.

Thanks for a great workout and a great workshop, Scott Jansen

This video was really great since I was unable to attend the workshop. I am excited to work on those ideas in my own workout.

Being able to have this interaction of study at any time of day or night has been paramount for me. I look forward to many more great workouts and conversations.

This was a great video! Even though I was there, I still learned a few things, though. Thank you Master Biernacki.
